Third Monday of the month

February 19        

The Promise by Damon Galgut, 2021 Booker Prize Winner. Takes place in South Africa, where a matriarch of a  white family makes a promise to a black maid, which has far reaching consequences.

March 19        

The Seascraper by Benjamin Wood, A young man leading a dismal life as a shanker (scraping for shrimp ) along  England's north coast, when one day his life is changed with the arrival of an American.

April 16        

All That Man Is by David Szalay, Nine stories tracing the life of nine men from youth to old age.

May 21

The Girls of Slender Means by Muriel Spark A 1998 novel about a group of low income young women attempting to normalize their lives in post war London.

June 15     

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury The concerns of a 70+ years old classic unfortunately once again come to the front.

July 20     

Freestyle, Pick'em, we return to the old book report format, each member will announce at the June 15th meeting what book they will discuss.

Evening Book Club

Third Thursday of every other month beginning March 19th

We are pleased to announce the launch of an Evening Book Club at the Gilford B. Butler Center beginning March 19th at 6 pm, and continuing on the third Thursday of every other month thereafter.

The club will be spearheaded by Christina Kratzman, and all are welcome to attend. Whether you are an avid reader or simply looking to connect with others who enjoy great books, we would love you to join us. There is a sign up sheet at the circulation desk to receive e-mail updates.
